Marriage Equality to be Focus of Stamford Panel Discussion
October 10, 2007 -- On Wednesday, October 17th, major players within the Connecticut marriage equality movement will gather for Connecticut Marriage Equality: Where are we now?, a panel discussion hosted by Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD), Love Makes a Family, and the Triangle Community Center.
The panel will include Yale Professor George Chauncey, author of Why Marriage: The History Shaping Today's Debate Over Gay Equality; GLAD Attorney Bennett Klein, who, in May, argued for marriage equality before the Connecticut Supreme Court; and Love Makes a Family Executive Director Anne Stanback, who has led the legislative battle for marriage equality.
The featured panelists will provide an update on GLAD's pending court case Kerrigan & Mock v. Department of Public Health, as well as examine future legislation, and pinpoint where Connecticut fits within the national fight for marriage equality. The event will include a question-and-answer segment and will be followed by a reception.
The panel discussion will take place from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Society located at 20 Forest Street in Stamford.
